unify

A student well being platform designed to reduce university loneliness through emotional design, storytelling and meaningful connections

I’ve always been fascinated by the emotional side of design, the way technology can feel human. Unify grew out of curiosity. At university, I would notice how a lot of students silently struggle with loneliness. We have societies, events, group chats yet isolation still sits in the background of campus life. I wanted to build something that felt authentic, connections feel easier, warmer and more personal. So I created Unify - a platform and campaign designed to help students feel seen and heard, supported and connected both online and offline.

PROBLEM

University can be an isolating experience. Even when living in highly social environments, a lot of students struggle to form meaningful connections with people and feel emotionally supported. existing platforms feel overwhelming, not as personal or pressure-driven.

INSIGHT

That is why students needs gentle ways to connect. Connection feels safer when its low-pressure, emotionally aware, and designed around how students actually feel, not how they are expected to behave.

SOLUTION

I designed Unify, a wellbeing- led platform that uses emotional design and storytelling to help students feel seen, supported and connected. Through calm visual identity, soft interaction, authentic design. The app encourages intentional connection both online and offline, Unify reframes socialising as something human, personal and emotionally safe.

Unify App

Designed to listen

The app is a wellbeing app that uses emotional design with minimalism to make connections feel calm and accessible. The character throughout the app as a visual metaphor for listening and presence. Designed without a mouth, it reflects the unspoken nature of loneliness while offering reassurance through its soft, oversized form.

unify logo

Designed for quiet moments

The logo is designed as a gentle visual concept rather than a loud brand mark.It is made to feel human and emotionally present. The surrounding leaves symbolise gradual growth, reflecting how confidence and connection develop slowly through small meaningful interactions.

unify Touchpoint

Designed to be heard

The quiet poster is designed to exist in spaces students pass through quietly I.e a quiet study space where I witnessed a lot of students sitting alone. These are moments where loneliness often feels most present, yet visible. The character is small and still reflecting how loneliness can feel internal and quiet. It is a quiet introduction not asking for attention but creates the space for it. The goal is not to fix loneliness but acknowledge it and offer a gentle step towards connection.

The slogan itself represents reassurance and “you figured” in bold is a way of saying there is a way to combat and be free from this.
